We should be more like cows.

Huh?

I was really cold and wet during a run last week...... I had made my mind up to turn around and head home.

...... Then I remembered an story in a Dale Carnegie book.

It talked about how we should be more like cows.....

.... Cows are outside in hail, sleet, snow, and hot humid days etc.

They don't refuse to go outside or complain that they'll catch a cold.... They adapt to their ever-changing environment.

Obviously we should not run/ train/ etc. if we will get hypothermia or push ourselves until we have heat stroke.

But, before throwing in the towel, we should think about our particular situation. If it isn't going to actually harm us, are we just being babies?

After I thought about it for a few minutes I decided to finish my run.

Funny thing..... I didn't feel as cold.

Gotta be like the cows.

I was talking to a doctor yesterday about running and he asked if I'd run in the rain. Of course the answer was yes and he told me that I was addicted. I didn't know that rain was something that should be avoided.

I look back to when I was a smoker that never exercised (7 years ago)..... If you had told me you ran in the rain, I would have thought you were crazy!

Now I say : 'Why wouldn't you?!'

:D

I see the meaning, when bad weather hits, we can still train in 90% of it, but we dont, I would say only 10% of it, we really shouldnt be messing around out in it

Pass it along either way, blessings and hugs! Link back to me if you could..thanks!

I LOVE your cow pics....reminds me of when I was little and my grandmother's dairy farm :).

Personally, I like my treadmill for adverse weather (aka: a sprinkle will suffice :)) because I'm a big wuss, but if I have to race in it, it's not a big deal!!

Enjoy Florida!!! :)

I think cows are great! Very cutious creatures.
