Day 7.... Ernst Tinaja Trail.

Roughly translated, Tinaja means Vessel.

Water collects in these naturally formed 'vessels' and makes a perfect watering hole for deer, mountain lions, coyotes, etc.

The vessel above is called the Ernst Tinaja. Named after Max Ernst (not to be confused with the surrealist painter).

There were several tinajas of varying sizes.

The canyon is filled with slanted, angular and some undulating limestone walls........ caused by faulting.

This place is a geologist's dream.

Dr. Ana making her way across the tough terrain.

I posted pictures in a previous post..... this is where the beautiful rocks came from.

The canyon wall has sustained a lot of damage........ it was apparent that people have chipped away at the wall in order to bring home a souvenier.

This was a spectacular hike.

Gotta run.
