Texas trees.

Trees that curve like this are very curious.

I find this tree intriguing...... I had never seen the species before. Still trying to figure it out. Anyone?...... Anyone?..... Bueller?

Close up.

Did you know that the official tree of Texas is the Pecan?
It can live more than a thousand years and grow over 100 feet tall.

The pecan tree.

I understand that Texas has had a severe drought this past year. Fortunately, it rained (came down in sheets actually) all day Tuesday.

This was a welcomed sight........ a fire ban had been in effect for months.

It's not really camping without a fire.

Gotta run.

What are you using for a fire poker? We have those special flippin' sticks we can give you - they work like a charm - and good for flipp'in snakes away...just saying.

I loved this post. There's this tree that my dad is obsessed with in Honolulu. Every time we go there, we have to drive and look at it. Heh. This post reminded me of my dad's tree.
