Two hundred racers hit the starting line last Saturday for GUATS Logs Rocks and Steel - an epic off-road multi-sport race through the wild terrain of the Haliburton Highlands.  In just three years, this event has become widely acknowledged as one of Ontario's most challenging tests of fitness, endurance, toughness and outdoor skills.  "This was our biggest year yet," 
said event director Bob Miller, one of Canada's most respected adventure racers and course designers.  "Numbers have grown steadily since the race began and we've been impressed by the people who are signing up."
 
Participants had a choice of two different marked race courses.  The majority selected the Frost Centre Course which began with a 4 km paddle on scenic St. Nora Lake followed by a 15 km mountain bike ride through the rugged Frost Centre cross-country ski trail network.  After dropping their bikes, racers ran 5 km on hilly, rocky trails before crossing the finish line....................
