My life updated....

After 14 years of service with my employer I received a 'lay off' call on March 1, 2010. Long story made shorter.... For the last 14 + years I have worked various shifts during weekends/ holidays/ summers. I have put my family and friends on the back burner.... hoping that one day I would get a normal shift, with normal days off, and normal vacation times. I had been holding my breath, and crossing my fingers, way too long!

I took this opportunity to prioritize. I could have 'bumped' into a different department but was able to choose the 'layoff'. I chose ME!!!

It's been 3 weeks of adjusting. I must admit that it's been a lot harder than I expected. I didn't realize how much I identified myself through my work and how structured my life, and myself as a person, had become become because of it. I know that with time I will learn to enjoy this newly acquired freedom (..... I will have to start searching for work eventually).

I am looking forward to having the summer off. I have to learn to relax and remove all of the stressors from my life. I will take this opportunity to challenge myself, to gain self awareness, and to grow as a person. I will take this opportunity to reconnect with Andrew, my family and my friends.

I am really looking forward to see how my future will unfold.....

... Until then, you can find me pictured above :D

Gotta run.

Needless to say that sucks but at least you are being proactive, you've paid your karma dues, now it's time to make a withdrawal!

Unemployment... I've been down that road before... If I had known then what I know now, I probably would have handled it differently. Good for you for taking that stand and stepping back for the timebeing. Enjoy the time you have now and explore new and old interests.

Hopefully we can hang together soon!
