Runners Abs Workout: Ball Plank

My physiotherapist says that most people have very weak core muscles. It is so important to use these muscles when running. Don't let the video fool you.... it's a lot harder than it looks!!! I know that I personally should work work more on core and less on abs. When my core is strong injuries stay at bay.

Gotta run.

Thanks for sharing, I don't do near enough core exercises but I need to start.

You're welcome. They are hard... but, they aren't really all that time consuming! So we should have no excuses!!! :D

Aren't your abs part of your core? You certainly take care of your abs!!! This exercise can be done without the ball but is it just as effective? I wonder..

Hi Janet! Core and abs are actually 2 separate areas. The abs are out front, what you see.... 6 pack. Your core muscles are in way behind your abs. Not sure how to describe really. Abs are superficial and the core is the muscle that should be doing all the work. I say 'should' because most people use their abs instead. When you use your core effectively, it really keeps your back aligned and helps you achieve/ maintain a proper running posture. :-)
