'Satch'

Satch developed cancer just over a year ago.... she was only supposed to live a few months. Yet she managed to thrive and to defy the odds.

A few weeks ago I brought her to the vet and sat with her until she passed. Euthanasia is a very difficult decision.... one that I struggled to make.

My children are four legged..... I truly love them like they were the 2 legged, 'not so hairy' variety.

I wanted to pay tribute to my little girl Satch with this post. She was with me for almost 19 years and will always have a very special place in my heart.

"I am the wind blowing through your hair
and the warmth you feel in the air.

When that smile creeps on your face,
remember that I am in a good place.
And when you're feeling sad and down,
recall memories of me running around.

You don't need to look low and high,
just search way deep inside.
And know that we'll never be apart,
for I have left my pawprints on your heart."

Poem in a card that my vet sent me... Author Unknown.

I will miss my little Satch - I have memories of her too. How she would take a piece of popcorn out of your fingers then growl at you with the popcorn in her little mouth - precious. Then she would honor you when she would settle down on your lap - it was her way of showing she loved us too, in her own special way.
She is at peace...
