Women's Nike Marathon October 18, 2009

Here is how this years marathon is going to be set up. I have taken out some of the mile markers.... basically there is some sort of singing, cheering, dancing group at every mile marker. They are even giving food to the spectators!

START
The race begins downtown at San Francisco’s iconic Union Square, whose towering monument is topped with a bronze statue of Nike, the goddess of victory.

MILE 1
Oakland Interfaith Choir: A 20-member gospel choir in full robes (with Nike sneakers underneath) is the first act to greet the runners. With a dramatic view of the bay right behind them, this starts the event with a great a Sunday-morning-go-to-meeting feel.

MILE 2
Aid Station One: Safeway Refreshe water
Coat Check and Donation Station: Once you’ve had a chance to warm up, you can check your clothes to pick them up at the finish line, or donate your clothes to benefit the Homeless Prenatal Program.
Stewart Tartan Bagpipe Band: Always a hit, these bagpipers wear Scottish kilts and tartans – with Nikes, of course. The sound of the Scottish heath brought to the middle of San Francisco.

MILE 4
